Additional Alternative Promise

As you will be aware the Scout Association has changed the policy regarding those wanting to join the association who are unable to make a promise which includes a 'duty to God'.
The new Additional Alternative Promise comes into effect from 1st January 2014.

The introduction of the Additional Alternative Promise will present some challenges which, in my view, do not make the issue of faith / no faith any easier but it is something that needed to be addressed.
This is therefore a matter that every leader and executive committee needs to think about as we are now in the position of having to inform and support young people, their families and potential adult leaders to make the choice which is appropriate for them.
